Team Georgia dug itself in a five-run hole in the first inning and could never catch up. The team chipped at the lead but fell short to Team Arizona 7-6 Wednesday in the bronze medal game at the Sunbelt Classic.

Team Georgia finishes the tournament with a record of 6-4.

It was the second time in as many days that Team Georgia lost to Team Arizona. They lost 6-2 on Tuesday.

Team Georgia’s pitching staff allowed just seven hits in the loss on Wednesday. However, the five-run first inning was too much to overcome.

Taber Mongero (North Hall) went 2 for 4 with a pair of RBIs to lead Team Georgia’s offense, while Christian Avant (Tift County) finished 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI.

Jay Sanders (Colquitt County), Jake Arnold (Starrs Mill) and Chaz Bertolani (Johns Creek) each finished with doubles.

Team Tennessee defeated Team Mississippi 5-0 in the championship game to win the Sunbelt Classic late Wednesday night.
