Q&A with Lovett's Drewbie Pinkston

Meet Drewbie Pinkston, a 5-foot-9, 165-pound infielder/outfielder from Lovett who has signed to play at Northwestern. Pinkston is a member of the Metro Big 10 cover for the 2021 Georgia Dugout Preview Magazine. Here are 10 questions with him.

 

Q: What in-game rituals or superstitions do you have?

A: I step on home plate and spit outside the left-handers batters box before every at bat.

 

Q: Who is your favorite professional sports team?

A: Atlanta Braves.

 

Q: What is your favorite food to eat?

A: Shrimp.

 

Q: Name one thing people may be surprised to learn about you? 

A: I can juggle and make some really good cheese and eggs.

 

Q: Who is your favorite teacher and what is your favorite high school subject?

A: My favorite teacher is my eighth-grade math teacher Ms. Jefferson, and my favorite subject is history.

 

Q: Outside of baseball, what is your next hobby? 

A: When I'm not playing baseball, I like to play golf.

 

Q: If you could travel anywhere outside the U.S., what would be your dream location and why?

A: Madagascar because of how pretty the scenery looks.

 

Q: Name the person you'd like to meet the most.

A: Barack Obama because of all that he made seem possible when I was growing up. Seeing a black man in the White House to me made anything seem possible.

 

Q: Who has been the most influential person in your life?

A: My dad because of how much he has done for me. He's been one of my biggest fans and also my best coach. He knows so much about me and has always been there for me and to push me to be my best. He's set such a great example for me growing up and I love him for that.

 

Q: After baseball, what career are you planning to pursue?

A: I want to be an MLB General Manager after I stop playing baseball. I love all the business decisions that go into the job and it has to do with managing my favorite sport which makes it even better.
