Team Georgia 2-2 after Saturday split

Team Georgia is 2-2 in the Sunbelt Classic in Oklahoma after splitting a pair of games on Saturday. They lost to Team Mississippi 8-4 in Saturday's early game, then rallied to beat Team Missouri 9-1 Saturday night.

Team Mississippi overcame a 2-1 deficit by scoring three runs in fourth, then four more in the fifth to take control.

Steven Minter (Hillgrove) went 2 for 2 to lead the offense including a solo homer. Austin Thompson (South Effingham) also had a solo homer.
Brennan Crooms (Metter) and Lee Kay (Heard County) added doubles.

Taber Mongero (North Hall), Garrett Marchman (Greenbrier) and Jay Saunders (Colquitt County) finished with a hit.

In the second game, Slayton Marina (West Laurens) allowed just a run on four hits and struck out four in a five-inning victory over Missouri.

Team Georgia erupted for 13 hits in the victory.

Kay, Thompson and Minter each went 4 for 4 to pace Team's Georgia's offensive attack. Kay finished with a double and three RBIs, while Minter added his second homer of the day and finished with three RBIs.

Joah Curry (Locust Grove) added Team Georgia's other hit.

The team will play Team Colorado at 4:30 p.m on Sunday.
