Team Georgia beats Colorado 12-0

The Junior Team Georgia improved its record to 3-2 at the Sunbelt Classic in Oklahoma with a 12-0 rout of Team Colorado Sunday afternoon. It was the only game of the day for Team Georgia.

Nolan Daniel (West Laurens), Brennan Crooms (Metter) and Beau Jones (Mill Creek) combined to allow Colorado just three hits in the five-inning shutout. Daniel was the winning pitcher.

Team Georgia erupted for 12 runs on 13 hits. Lee Kay (Heard County) had a double which plated two runs, while Taber Mongero (North Hall) went 2 for 2 with an RBI.

Austin Thompson (South Effingham) continues to hit well in the Sunbelt Classic. He and Jay Saunders (Colquitt County) finished 2 for 3. Thompson finished with three RBIs.

Jake Arnold (Starrs Mill) finished 1 for 2 with an RBI, Garrett Marchman (Greenbrier) finished 1 for 3 with a pair of RBIs and Steven Minter (Hillgrove) went 1 for 3 with an RBI to pace the offense.

Team Georgia scored four runs in the first inning and never looked back.

They will play Team Texas at 11:30 a.m. Monday, then play Oklahoma Gold at 7 p.m. in Monday night's late game.

The tournament concludes Wednesday.
