Q&A with Grady's Christian Smith

Meet Christian Smith, a 6-foot-2, 180-pound outfielder from Grady who has signed to play at Vanderbilt. Smith is a member of the Metro Big 10 cover for the 2021 Georgia Dugout Preview Magazine. Here are 10 questions with him.

 

Q: What in-game rituals or superstitions do you have?

A: Before a game, I always play the same playlist of songs that help me focus.

 

Q: Who is your favorite professional sports team?

A: Atlanta Braves.

 

Q: What is your favorite food to eat?

A: Ramen with pork.

 

Q: Name one thing people may be surprised to learn about you? 

A: I have been playing the cello since the seventh grade. Before I played the cello, I played the bass.

 

Q: Who is your favorite teacher and what is your favorite high school subject?

A: My favorite teacher is Mr. Pope and my favorite subject is history.

 

Q: Outside of baseball, what is your next hobby? 

A: Going out and hooping it up with my friends. I have played basketball for most of my life, so I always try to go and play.

 

Q: If you could travel anywhere outside the U.S., what would be your dream location and why?

A: I really want to go to Australia because I've heard it's beautiful, and I think Australian accents are pretty cool.

 

Q: Name the person you'd like to meet the most.

A: Jason Heyward because he has been my favorite player for a long time.

 

Q: Who has been the most influential person in your life?

A: My mom has been the most influential person in my life because she always works hard and pushes me to be the best man that I can be. She's always taught me to never give up on my hopes and dreams.

 

Q: After baseball, what career are you planning to pursue?

A: I want to do something with sports medicine or sports management because my whole life revolves around sports and both of those have been fields of interest for me.
