Q&A with Houston County's Brodie Chestnutt

Meet Brodie Chestnutt, a 6-foot-4, 225-pound pitcher/infielder/outfielder from Houston County who has signed to play at Florida State. Chestnutt is a member of the South Georgia Big 10 cover for the 2021 Georgia Dugout Preview Magazine. Here are 10 questions with him.

 

Q: What in-game rituals or superstitions do you have?

A: My in-game ritual is to sit in the same spot between innings.

 

Q: Who is your favorite professional sports team?

A: Atlanta Braves.

 

Q: What is your favorite food to eat?

A: My mom's beef stew with potatoes.

 

Q: Name one thing people may be surprised to learn about you? 

A: I am a very quiet person and I don't like attention on me at all.

 

Q: Who is your favorite teacher and what is your favorite high school subject?

A: Jared Allen at HoCo is my favorite teacher. He teaches my favorite subject history. His way of teaching makes it more interesting and fun to learn.

 

Q: Outside of baseball, what is your next hobby? 

A: Fishing.

 

Q: If you could travel anywhere outside the U.S., what would be your dream location and why?

A: I would love to travel to Germany because I enjoy learning about WWII.

 

Q: Name the person you'd like to meet the most.

A: Justin Verlander so we can discuss pitching and I can learn from him.

 

Q: Who has been the most influential person in your life?

A: My dad because he has taught me to work hard.

 

Q: After baseball, what career are you planning to pursue?

A: After baseball, I want to be a coach like both of my parents and teach kids about the game I love and teach them about the life skills that come along with playing sports.
