Q&A with Franklin County's Lawson Gailey

Meet Lawson Gailey, a 6-foot-2, 200-pound pitcher from Franklin County High School who has signed with South Florida. Gailey is a member of the North Georgia Big 10 cover for the 2022 Georgia Dugout Preview Magazine. Here are 10 questions with him.

Q: What in-game rituals or superstitions do you have?

A: I never step on the line heading out to the mound and I always walk out of the same side of the dugout.

 

Q: Who is your favorite professional sports team?

A: Atlanta Braves.

 

Q: What is your favorite food to eat?

A: Mexican and poppy seed chicken.

 

Q: Name one thing people may be surprised to learn about you? 

A: I love to snowboard.

 

Q: Who is your favorite teacher and what is your favorite high school subject?

A: Tammy Melton and social studies.

 

Q: Outside of baseball, what is your next hobby? 

A: Hunting, fishing and playing basketball.

 

Q: If you could travel anywhere outside the U.S., what would be your dream location and why?

A: Argentina to duck hunt.

 

Q: Name the person you'd like to meet the most.

A: Walker Buehler. I would love to pick his mind about pitching.

 

Q: Who has been the most influential person in your life?

A: Johnny "Maggs" Magliozzi. He has been a huge part of the mental side of pitching and he pushes me to be better everyday.

 

Q: After baseball, what career are you planning to pursue?

A: Sports management.
